Historically, the Life Science Industry (LSI) has partly and to various degrees, been excepted compliance to environmental requirements, due to its asserted importance for human health and safety. However, the regulatory tsunami following the EU Green Deal is said to have an impact on all sectors, but the extent of the impact on the LSI is unclear. The purpose of this thesis project is to map relevant regulations for the LSI and to analyse potential consequences for the coming 5 years.

This thesis will be done at our office in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Linköping, Uppsala, Umeå, Örnsköldsvik, Västerås, Malmö

High level description
The LSI operates globally and must also comply to sustainability legislation outside of the EU. An optional extension of this thesis project is to map corresponding regulations on the Chinese and North American Markets and to analyse the consequences for the LSI.

Project Description
The main objective of the thesis will be to research and analyse current and coming regulations following the Green Deal, as well as scientific articles on the subject. The project will likely involve qualitative data gathering and analysis in the form of interviews with stakeholders in the LSI.

The subject is wide, and this description can be seen as a pitch from Knightec. However, the research can be analysed through various lenses, and we are open to adaptation based on the students’ backgrounds and interests.

Knightec work with sustainability matters in close collaboration with several clients in the LSI and can provide contacts for the students. Knightec will provide you with a supervisor that will help and guide you through the project.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with an interest and knowledge in sustainable development and regulations connected to the EU Green Deal. This work is suitable for students of Sustainable Development, Product Development or equivalent at Master level.

Purpose
The aim of the thesis project is to map relevant regulations of the Green Deal and analyse potential consequences for the LSI in the coming 5 years.
