How the world’s largest luxury cruiser got a theme park attraction

Never before has a ride like this been installed on a ship. The North Star Ride accommodates 15 people in a glass dome on a crane arm that can be raised and pivoted over the rails on the ship. Royal Caribbean ordered three rides from MacGregor in Örnsköldsvik to be installed on its most modern luxury cruisers.

Knightec put together a team of different skills from several locations to support the entire process from the development of concepts to the assembly at the luxury cruises. The delivery included mechanical construction, strength calculations and responsibility for the system design of the hydraulics.

“Team with different skills from several offices was part of the entire process from the development of concepts to the assembly of the luxury cruises”

The result is cruising in North America, the Caribbean and Asia

The end user, Royal Caribbean, currently has rides on three of the world’s most modern cruise ships. This is one of many projects that shows how the customer, together with Knightec’s expertise, can at all stages, lift product development of custom-built advanced products to completely new levels.
