A home away from home – the perfect platform for growth

// insights

Construction on Knightec’s new office remains on schedule. By the end of the year, the 100-person strong Gothenburg team will move into their new ‘home’ at the top of Citygate, Scandinavia’s tallest building. What does this mean for recruitment? We find out from David Blaag Nilsson.

Fast-growing company
Knigtec is a fast-growing company. When I first came into contact with them four years ago, they had around 500 employees. Since then, business has boomed, despite the pandemic, and now we are around 800 at the company. That’s a big family, and we have to make sure we fully support coworkers while bringing in new members as we expand. Here in Gothenburg, we’ve outgrown our existing office so it’s the perfect time to upgrade, and what an amazing upgrade it is. We can see the world from the top of Citygate and the world can see us.

Home from home
One goal with the new office is to create a home from home. We want coworkers to feel that this is a place for them to work, relax, meet, learn, collaborate and achieve fantastic results. It’s essential that we create such an environment, especially as many employees who joined the company in the past few years have primarily established relationships with colleagues online. Our new office will make the transition back to the physical meeting place much smoother and, of course, make it easier for new employees when they arrive.

“It’s a very competitive market but knowing that joining Knigtec means working with cutting-edge technology for high-profile clients in a collaborative, friendly and diverse environment helps attract new recruits.”

Diverse, collaborative and friendly
The new office will also support improved collaboration among teams and business units –we will create a bridge between competence areas. It’s like diversity, when you mix cultures and backgrounds – as we do in our teams – innovation thrives. That’s what we expect to happen by bringing everybody together, we can cross-pollinate skills, experiences, and deliveries.

Naturally, all this makes us more attractive to potential new employees. It’s a very competitive market but knowing that joining Knigtec means working with cutting-edge technology for high-profile clients in a collaborative, friendly and diverse environment helps attract new recruits. Add to this the fact that if you join us you get to work in the coolest office in Sweden, built from the ground up with sustainability as a guiding star, then we have even more to offer.

Bringing consultants home
One of the many things we’ve learned through the pandemic is that our consultants don’t have to sit at clients as much. In fact, they can deliver more innovative solutions if they are based in our office where they can bounce ideas off other Knightec experts with different skill sets. Of course, flexibility remains key, some people will be based at clients, others will work from home some of the time, and others will spend most of their time at the office. But regardless, we want to create a dynamic environment for us to finish off the week and start the weekend together. As I said, a home from home.

Opening the doors to potential recruits
From a pure recruitment perspective, the new office will give us the opportunity to hold more events. I’m a strong believer in opening the doors to potential coworkers, whether they are school students, university graduates or well-established professionals. With the pandemic over, we can now start to do this again. People can come and meet us to find out who we are and what we do – and the new office is the perfect place for that. After all, we all know that first impressions count and what a first impression we can offer, which is backed up by a great company culture. I’m testament to this. I originally joined Knightec on a consulting basis and decided that it’s the type of company I want to work at, a place where I can build a successful career. Today, I’m heading up a team of five people. Why wouldn’t you want to join us? There is so much opportunity for personal growth here. Get in touch with me and I’ll tell you why you should join us.
