Meet Ida, who goes all in

// insights

System developer Ida Funk is solution-oriented, regardless of whether it is about product development or commuting long distances. You are either part of the solution or part of the problem!

For Ida Funk, the quest for the perfect job began already in her hometown Sala as one of her co-workers signed up for distance training in web development. During that period, they both worked extra in administrative functions, and Ida was ready for new challenges.

- At the time I also met an acquaintance who had a son working as a developer. I was inspired to hear about the exciting things he got to work on.

This was to be the start of a new future for Ida as well. She finally realized what she wanted to dedicate herself to.

- I realized that I love solving problems. To find out more I went browsing. And to be really sure whether this was something for me, I applied for various Java courses at the university. Eventually, I decided to enter an entire program. Already during the first course, I was hooked. This was for me!

As Ida learned more about programming, she applied for the System Science program in Borlänge. A three-year education where she got a chance to improve on what has become her main interest, namely problem-solving.

- During my three years, I learned everything possible regarding requirements for web development, backend and databases.

After completing her studies, it was time to apply for a job. Through LinkedIn she found out about Knightec.

- They were looking for junior developers. I got interested and applied. One thing led to another and a few days later I was at their Stockholm office, meeting with some key people and conducting some tests. It was both rewarding and fun. They got to know me and my qualities, and I got the chance to see some of Knightec's corporate culture. A short while later Knightec contacted me to offer me a job. It was a wonderful feeling!

After almost a year as an employee, Ida still has the same feeling as on her first visit to Knightec in Stockholm.

- This is a company investing in its consultants. I feel recognized and involved, which gives me an enormous driving force. The operations are solution-oriented, which suits me. For example, I commute daily between Sala and Stockholm. I am able to take advantage of that time and work during my traveling, a solution that suits both me and Knightec.

Ida concludes by giving her best tip to anyone considering studies in programming.

- Start by taking a basic course in programming. In many ways, the experience will give you a good basis when deciding about your future.
