The way forward is in the question

Working as a project manager constantly involves new challenges and elements. Therese Lindskog is one of Knightecs experienced project managers who use questioning as her tool to maximize her leadership.

When asked how she copes with change and increases customer value, Therese is convinced that it is basically about her curiosity and daring to ask.

“Since childhood, I have always been inquisitive; I even know that it went so far that the relatives sometimes could not cope with all my questions. But my curiosity and curiosity have followed me through life, and I am firmly convinced that you should dare to ask; I see it as the desire to try to understand and learn something new,” says Therese.

Leadership skills come through experience and training. Finding a sustainable project methodology that includes workable tools is of great importance to be able to row a project in port. Common pitfalls in project management are cracked budgets and schedules and communication problems. Several of these pitfalls can be averted by working with their leadership, communication, and structure.

“Dare to ask; I see something vital as a project manager. I usually say, dare to ask or lower the project! I have realized that prestige does not belong in the project manager role. You will find the success factors in being humble and curious “, says Therese, who draws parallels to her time as a youth athlete.

“During my youth as team captain for the handball team, I got to try leading a group for the first time. And I am convinced that what I learned there had shaped me into the person I am today. The national team captain for the men’s national handball team, Glenn Solberg, expressed his leadership style in a good way: Warmth, trust, and daring give space for the individual to take responsibility and develop, just like I want my leadership to look and feel”.

The role of the project manager can, in some cases, seem a bit complex. No detailed knowledge of technical systems or products is required without an ability to create structure, understand the scope, and communicate in the right way to generate interest and understanding for everyone involved in the team.

“The team is so critical. If we have a successful team, we create more efficient work that benefits everyone involved. And again, I can draw parallels between working as a project manager and team captain. A person can not do everything in project work or a team. Everyone is needed, and together we are strong and can row the project ashore “, says Therese.

As a project manager, having a constant overview of all project parts enables the entire theme to work proactively. This, in turn, means that you, as a project manager, can minimize the risk of missing parts of the budget, schedule, and communication with stakeholders.

“Project management can be challenging but also very interesting and exciting. I have found a professional area where I can benefit from what has shaped me into who I am. It is not about technical solutions but the ability to create a structure so that the whole project is clear and the way forward is defined. This means that your project team can work proactively without putting out fires,” concludes Therese.
