Design Ace Mikael Thelin joins Knightec as the company accelerates focus on design

Design Ace Mikael Thelin has joined Knightec. His experience from leading global design departments and developing products and strategies will be pivotal in the Knightec’s drive to become the leading digital and industrial development consultancy firm in northern Europe.

Mikael joins the company from his latest position as Head of Design at the outdoor mobile living company, Dometic, which supplies products to over 40,000 companies in 100 countries. Prior to that, he developed design strategies and built a design team from the ground up at Ericsson as Head of Design. He also has a lot of hands-on design experience from various manufacturing companies including Scania. His design team’s work has been recognized with Red Dot, IF, and Good Design Awards.

“It’s great to join Knightec at what is a really exciting time for the company,” says Mikael. “Over the years I’ve recommended Knightec consultants to colleagues and worked with them myself as they never disappoint. They are considerate, talented and knowledgeable, with the dedication and determination to deliver solutions that make a difference. With that in mind, there was really only one option open to me when moving back into the consultancy world.”

“Mikael is one of the missing pieces I’ve been working hard to recruit in order to take Knightec to the next level,” says CEO, Dimitris Gioulekas “He has been developing design solutions, strategies and initiatives at some of the world’s leading production and service companies. As Industrial Design & User Experience Advisor, he will play an important role in developing the Knightec design team while sharing his knowhow and expertise with our clients. Leveraging his incredible insights and experience and transferring them into clients’ product and service roadmaps, will give them an incredible competitive advantage over the long-term.”

One year ago Daresay joined the Knightec family, bringing market-leading digital design expertise to Knightec. Now, with this strategically important recruitment and a new design team on the way, Knightec will be able to offer end-to-end design services to clients no matter if it’s for a self-driving system, a medical device, a bank app, or a new battery. This will help provide the perfect springboard for the company to reach its five-year goals of wide-spread Nordic expansion and a focus on providing solutions that contribute to a sustainable future.

“As a designer, it’s extremely important to develop sustainable solutions as part of the circular economy. They must solve a problem, outperform their predecessor, and deliver a great user experience. You can only do this by understanding the market, the production process, the lifecycle longtail, and individual users. It’s the big and small picture. I love holding product prototypes in my hands, following the user testing process, and, at the same time, projecting design steps for the years ahead. Now I can’t wait to get started,” continues Mikeal.

“It’s great to have Mikeal onboard at such an important stage of our expansion plan. He will fit in very well at Knightec. He’s a humble person that wants to use his skills to improve our customers’ businesses while contributing to a better, more sustainable society,” concludes Dimitris.
