At Knightec, we put knowledge at the top of the agenda. With our way of collaborating and exchanging knowledge, we want to be the best partner for our clients. An ambition that places high demands on our employees. That is why we have, among other things, invested in expertise in Computerized System Validation, which strengthens our competence area Validation Management.

The need for effective and sustainable validation has long been in demand within Life Science. As the authorities make great demands, it is extra important that the routines are correct and that these are followed and are well documented. Validation ensures that a production process is consistent in achieving the predetermined specifications and properties set. An important parameter for both producer and end customer.

Knightec's employee Jenny Tjernberg is a sought-after expert in Computerized System Validation (CSV). She highlights the benefits of validation in Life Science.

For my own part, it is inspiring and varied, as we are currently in a process of change. Life Science has the potential to take inspiration from other industries that are at the forefront of digitalization. Now we are in a paradigm shift and a lot is happening and there is a lot of talk about efficiency and safety, says Jenny.

Safety is one of Jenny's most important issues. As a CSV expert, her main task is to ensure that test results are linked to a computer and software, and that nothing - under any circumstances - is modified. Something that takes time and resources.

I would like to say that everything is risk-based and scalable, which suits me well. It is a pragmatic work process that can be difficult to understand, but which means that you have an investigative role that is constantly changing, says Jenny.

The opportunities to use Knightec's combined expertise to solve clients' problems are many. Knightec has specialist knowledge in digitalization and a team is formed to work actively to develop and grow our competence area Validation Management. Our specialist area manager Sandra Eklund has an important role there.

- Our vision is to continue to develop Knightec in the area, to become an even more given player for our current and prospective clients.

The team works actively to be attractive to clients and attaches great importance to sharing knowledge and developing their own colleagues. Sandra thinks this is a good way to broaden the recruitment base - to develop skills in our already professional co-workers within Knightec.

- It is important right now to get more people interested in validation and to understand the importance of adding new knowledge and skills, she says.

Attracting new colleagues to the validation area is a key task for Sandra.

- We are constantly looking for those who want to be part of our Life Science team. In the role of validator, we can contribute with different experience, knowledge, and perspectives where we together form a strong team that supports our clients with in-demand expertise, Sandra concludes.

Validation management, the glue that makes everyone understand the higher purpose

When I first started working with validation, in my mind, it was simply about writing documents to keep the regulatory bodies satisfied so they continue to allow production. As long as the documentation is in place, the work is done. The mindset did not inspire me, nor did it bring out my passion. Back then, validation was simply “work”.

Make real impact by applying design at the right time

Somehow, the word design is still often only considered to be something decorative and therefore something that can be applied at the end of a process to beautify the result. Design is also often considered to be something “fluffy”: something difficult to fully describe and understand. Design can definitely be both decorative and fluffy but if we limit ourselves to this, we are missing the huge benefits of how design can make a real impact.
