One example is the development of wear measurement of industrial machines, where we use 3D scanning of large objects which is then integrated with virtual reality where both places, objects, and people can interact without security risks. In a completely different context, we find a project where we have developed autonomous sea vessels. Being at sea can be wonderful, but also very dangerous. Extreme weather conditions, war situations, darkness, and other vehicles are just a few examples of obstacles we could help our customer minimize the risks of by creating driverless vehicles. With the help of machine vision and AI, among other things, the vehicle can both make complex decisions and be remotely controlled by people at a safe distance.
In recent years, we have seen a strong advance for machine vision in everyday situations, as technology has become available through e.g. augmented reality (AR) in our mobile phones in various apps. From furnishing your living room to putting funny filters on selfies, it’s all done with the help of optical measurement technology. The more developed the technology becomes, the more applications we will see, it will soon be only the imagination that sets the limits.
