Students working at Knightec during the summer

// news

Since 12 years we collaborate with seven different schools around Sweden. The goal is to support and inspire ninth graders within technology and engineering, build a bridge between the schools and worklife as well as broaden our talent pool.

We have now finished our twelfth year with school collaborations around Sweden. This year we announced a scholarship where two students from each school won a summer internship at Knightec. It will be a mutaual exchange to work with the students and the ones who won the summer jobs appreciate it a lot. As one of the students in Gothenburg said: ”I won, I can’t believe it, I won for real, it’s incredible”.

The scholarship is a project and the assignment in Gothenburg this year was to design a bioreactor for a densely populated environment. The theme is related to an internal project at Knightec called ”Green City” which is about increasing the air quality in cities using microalgae and a bioreactor. Twelve contributions came to the final.

In Örnsköldsvik, the assignment was to come up with a solution on how to reach one of the seventeen global goals (known as the Sustainable Development Goals). One of the winners in Örnsköldsvik think that the collaboration has been educational, she says: ”We learned a lot we didn’t know before we got in contact with Knightec. We have seen a lot of things that have given us perspective on how it is to work as an engineer and how many different roles there are within your business. We didn’t have a clue before.``

The student's commitment is impressive and working with the students gives us valuable insights about the future.

Now a holistic approach, the ability to cooperate, working towards the same goals, and integrating the client in the process is what matters the most.
