Webinar on diversity and prejudice

// news

On Friday 26/3 we invited all our employees to a live-streamed talk with Ahmed Abdirahman on diversity, prejudice, and the importance of working for inclusion and not only against discrimination.

Ahmed Abdirahman is the founder and CEO of the non-profit foundation The Global Village, which organizes, among other things, Järvaveckan to reduce the distance between citizens and politicians. Järvaveckan brings together stakeholders from civil society, business, government, and political leaders to address current and future challenges facing Sweden, especially integrating foreign-born persons and their children into social, economic, and political life. The event is annual and had over 50,000 visitors in 2019. Ahmed is a former expert on social sustainability at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and has previously worked at the US Embassy in Stockholm and Interpeace, an international peacebuilding organization based in Geneva.

On this occasion, we will also hear why our CEO Dimitris has a personal commitment to The Global Village and Järvaveckan when he interviews Ahmed, and why these issues are always high up on the agenda for Knightec.

– I am involved in The Global Village Foundation because I see a huge commitment from everyone involved and that it is a way to contribute to a well-functioning and open society. Järva Week is important because we take on integration and exclusion in a way that through its design as a meeting place, creates a space where I experience that you talk to each other, not just about each other, says Dimitris.

For all of you who can’t participate in today’s webinar, we highly recommend listening to Ahmed in Radio P1’s Sommarprat series instead, to hear the very engaging story about his life and the journey he has made since fleeing a war-torn Somalia and becoming a prominent advocate for diversity in both Swedish and international top-level contexts.
